The Greater Manchester Ageing Hub was established in 2016 as part of the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA).* Its remit is to a coordinate a strategic response to the opportunities and challenges of an ageing population across Greater Manchester partners.
The Ageing Hub's key priorities for Greater Manchester are:
- to become the first age-friendly city region in the country
- to be a global centre of excellence for ageing, pioneering research, technology and new ideas
- to increase economic participation amongst the over 50s.
Jo was previously Institute Manager at MICRA, at the University of Manchester, supporting leading researchers working across the field of ageing and engaging with policy makers, practitioners and older people.
She joined Ageing Better in 2017 and is on secondment from the Manchester Institute for Collaborative Research on Ageing (MICRA).
* The Centre for Ageing Better and GMCA have a five-year partnership to drive improvements in Greater Manchester by applying evidence around what works to ensure a good later life.
