He joined Standard Life in 2011 with responsibility for all aspects of finance, leading a staff team of 400 staff within a division which generates an operating surplus of £400m per annum.
Prior to this he was with the Royal Bank of Scotland where he was director of group financial planning and analysis. He was also chief financial officer of RBS Insurance, having spent some time as finance director of its manufacturing arm.
Mark’s move to Standard Life was in part as a realisation that he was entering the next phase of his life, with little or no knowledge of the benefits that making the most of a better later life can bring.
He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Centre for Ageing Better on the development and implementation of accounting policies to ensure that they are appropriate, clear, understandable and pragmatic.
Standard Life is committed to building a better later life for everyone, work which is evidenced by its own financial research. Mark hopes to leverage the resources that the organisation has at its disposal for the benefit of Ageing Better.
