ITT: Past, present and future: housing policy and poor-quality homes

Deadline for submitting clarification questions is 4pm on 13 May 2020, with tender submission at 4pm on 1 June 2020

Invitation to Tender

Safe and accessible housing is key to a healthy, enjoyable and independent later life. However, millions of people are currently living in homes that endanger their health and wellbeing. In response to an absence of leadership with respect to improving the quality of our housing – by national government, industry and other related bodies – Ageing Better will shortly be launching an ambitious programme of work to address this gap. We intend to use a combination of new research and high-profile engagement events with the public and other stakeholders to create a movement for change.

We are starting this programme of work by commissioning two separate, but related, pieces of research. These projects aim to build on our previous work within this field. The two projects we intend to commission are:

Understand the experiences of people who live in poor-quality housing:

The purpose of this project is to support Ageing Better to understand the experiences of people living in a poor-quality home and what would enable an improvement to their situation. For this research we are primarily interested in the experiences of people approaching later life (people aged 50 to 70).

Past, present, future: Housing policy and poor-quality homes:

The purpose of this project is to support Ageing Better to reflect on previous successful housing policies and understand what we should therefore be advocating for now, including analysis of the potential scale of impact, who needs to act in order for the policies to be achieved and how much it would cost.

Deadline for submitting clarification questions is 4pm on 13 May 2020, with tender submission at 4pm on 1 June 2020

To note: We are happy for bidders to bid for multiple Invitation to Tender but we will evaluate each bid on its individual merit.
