Our divisive obsession with intergenerational unfairness
Stereotyping age groups and pitting generations against each other is divisive, and will undermine the Prime Minister’s desire to strengthen communities

We hear a lot about intergenerational fairness. In her October conference speech, Theresa May highlighted unfairness between “a more prosperous older generation and a struggling younger generation”. Then, this week, the Work and Pensions select committee said the pensions “triple lock” should be scrapped due to its ill effect on “intergenerational fairness”.
